Willie Nelson makes a good song, dang it! This song has a country Hawaiian style to it. Makes sense that Willie spends a lot of his down time in Maui, he has that feeling.

This song can be seen as sad or sweet, or both. A man, who is so in love with a woman, is overcome with grief when she is gone. She was all that was good in his life, so now his only comfort comes from remembering her lovely idiosyncrasies.

I see my Leiothrix as missing his sweetheart or thinking of a loved one and wishing us well. He's not as gloomy sad as the song, more hopeful and full of love.
