Okay, here goes! Starting a new blog and I will be painting some smalls (mostly 5"x7" - 8"x8") each day. Karen Obuhanych of ktoART- Ground Rules: one painting start to finish in a day, anything that strikes my fancy is fair game as far as subject matter is concerned. Most likely I'll be painting my favorite subject matter: birds! But I love all of God's creatures and even though my thumbs are far from green, I like painting the flowers and trees as well. Here's today's painting. I've already added it as the title photo for my ktoART blog page. This is a 5"x7" acrylic original painting I call "Stop And Smell The Flowers". The cute little birdies here are called Vermillion Flycatchers. The female has grey and white tones with a shock of peach on the belly. Males are more striking with their vermillion red color and black-brown mask, wings and tail. I grew up in California and there are so many birds to see over there. Every so often you can find these guys flitting around, trying to catch some grub:) Since the Vermillion Flycatchers are usually flying around catching flies, I figured that in my painting, I'd like for them to take a breather. Stop and smell the flowers! Original painting will be available at Genesis Gallery Hawaii. Contact information is on my website: www.ktoart.com/galleries /galleries.html
