The 'Akikiki is a little puffball honeycreeper found in Kaua'i and therefore is also known as the Kaua'i Creeper. Listed as Critically Endangered, conservation projects are in the works to rehabilitate the 'Akikiki and learn more about their behavior. Many researchers and birders relate the 'Akikiki to Nuthatches because of their ability to hop up tree trunks as they hunt for bugs. For this painting, I added an extra upside-down heart.
