The Japanese White Eye is a tiny little bird with bright white eye rings. I have nestlings in my plumeria tree. It's amazing to me that they can make these delicate nests about 2-3 inches in diameter and survive in the big wind that rolls through Waikoloa. These two are relaxing on a hot Hawaiian day, looking oh so content. Love!

I will never tire of painting Birdettes. I just love them so! This little Birdette is a Blue Finch found mostly in Brazil and Bolivia. I love the bright blue of their feathers with their high contrasting yellow beaks, legs and feet. Our friend here is ready for an adventure. He has been waiting all morning... Let's go take on the world together! How fun was this? Super fun. These three rabbits are a client's rabbits in Japan. This painting is the second piece of a commission that I just finished. I really wanted this painting to convey the fluffiness of these rabbits. With the request for a soft grey background and wood flooring, I think it all came together great. Unfortunately my Japanese is highly lacking, so I could not speak directly with my client. But I learned that Usagi means "Rabbit(s)" and that's a start! I imagine this little Red-Billed Leiothrix Birdette is singing the Beatles song. He just can't stand it anymore and how can we say no to that face?! He has tapped into my motto: when all else fails, sing a Beatles song and no one can refuse your charms;) I loved my first Love painting so much, I had to make another. This is a different size, 16"x20" (first one was 24"x24") and I rearranged the letters to make it a little steadier. More "Bird's The Word" series to come! This one is off to Waikiki! This little male cardinal looks like he is patiently waiting for a love to pop into his life. We have one cardinal on our street that used to call and call without an answer... I would always think, one day his Princess will come. And she did! A few weeks ago, I saw my male cardinal courting a lady in my backyard, feeding her seeds and dancing around her every move. Makes me happy to know that love finds a way! |
